Does it expire soon?
If your domain name expires in 14 days or less, you will not be able to transfer it to dotCanada. You will need to renew the domain name with the company where it is currently registered. Once renewed, you may then transfer the domain name to dotCanada unless it has already been transferred within the last 60 days.
Is it already expired?
Unfortunately, expired domain names cannot be transferred. If your domain name expired less than 30 days ago, you can renew it with your current registrar. After renewal, you may make the transfer.
Can an expired domain name be re-registered through dotCanada?
Maybe.
A registrar may hang on to an expired domain name for up to a year. If your previous registrar did so, you will need to renew your domain name through that registrar.
If the domain name has been released, we can try to re-register it for you but we cannot make any guarantees. Someone else may register it before we have a chance.
What happens with the dotCanada hosting account if I cannot transfer my domain?
You can still use your dotCanada web hosting account by pointing your Domain Name Servers (DNS) to dotCanada. You can later transfer your domain name when it becomes eligible.
