Renewing Your Hosting Service

Ensuring your dotCanada.com hosting service is renewed on time is essential to avoid any interruption to your website or email services. This guide covers different renewal options and how to manage them.

Automatic Renewal (Recommended)

By default, most dotCanada.com hosting accounts are set up for automatic renewal. This means:

  • An invoice is automatically generated 14 days before your renewal date
  • If you have a payment method on file with autopay enabled, the payment is processed automatically
  • Your service continues uninterrupted

To verify or enable automatic renewal:

  1. Log in to the WHMCS Client Area at https://clients.dotcanada.com/login
  2. Go to Services > My Services
  3. Click on the service you want to check
  4. Look for the "Auto Renewal" status or "Billing Information" section
  5. If automatic renewal is not enabled, look for an option to enable it, or continue with manual renewal

Manual Renewal

If you prefer to renew manually or don't have autopay set up:

  1. You'll receive a renewal invoice via email approximately 14 days before your service expires
  2. Log in to the WHMCS Client Area
  3. Go to Billing > My Invoices
  4. Find the renewal invoice for your hosting service
  5. Click View Invoice
  6. Click Pay Now and complete the payment process

Changing Your Renewal Period

If you want to change your billing cycle (e.g., from monthly to annual):

  1. Log in to the WHMCS Client Area
  2. Go to Services > My Services
  3. Click on the service you want to modify
  4. Click Upgrade/Downgrade
  5. In the options, look for "Billing Cycle" or similar
  6. Select your preferred renewal period
  7. Click Continue and complete the process

Early Renewal

If you want to renew your service before the automatic invoice is generated:

  1. Log in to the WHMCS Client Area
  2. Go to Services > My Services
  3. Click on the service you want to renew
  4. Look for a Renew Service button (if available)
  5. If not available, please contact our billing department to request an early renewal

Renewal Discounts

We often offer discounts for longer-term renewals:

  • Annual renewals: May receive a 10-15% discount compared to monthly billing
  • Biennial (2-year) renewals: May receive a 15-20% discount
  • Triennial (3-year) renewals: May receive a 20-25% discount

To take advantage of these discounts, choose a longer billing cycle when renewing.

What to Do If Your Service Has Expired

If your hosting service has already expired:

  1. Log in to the WHMCS Client Area
  2. Go to Billing > My Invoices
  3. Look for the unpaid renewal invoice
  4. Pay the invoice as soon as possible
Important: Expired services enter a grace period before being suspended and eventually terminated:
  • 1-7 days late: Service remains active but renewal is overdue
  • 8-14 days late: Service may be suspended (website and email stop working)
  • 15+ days late: Service may be terminated and data deleted
If your service has been suspended, paying the outstanding invoice will usually restore it automatically within 1 hour.

Setting Up Payment Reminders

To avoid missing renewal deadlines:

  1. Ensure your contact email is up to date in the WHMCS Client Area
  2. Add billing@dotcanada.com to your email safe senders list
  3. Consider setting up a calendar reminder a few days before your expected renewal date

If you have any questions about renewing your hosting service or need assistance with the renewal process, please contact our billing team.
